Devin: It Sounded Cooler Than 'Just Do It'

To most people, getting ‘Fuck Life’ tattooed across their chest is something out of a drunk game of truth or dare. While I can’t say if Devin was drunk when he got this tattoo, I can confirm that he wears it well.

It was a Friday opening shift. Devin just got paid and had the rest of the day at his disposal, so he took an Uber to Konkrete Jungle, his shop of choice for a new tattoo.

“I didn’t know what I wanted, I just knew I wanted a tattoo, so on the ride there I was like, ‘what should I get, what spaces do I want to fill up?’ I didn’t have anything on my chest, so I’m like, let me just get a little banger real quick. I went there and I don’t know why it came into my head, but I just thought it was really funny. I don’t take tattoos very seriously, like some of them, yes, but this one definitely not.”

Devin went to his usual artist, Maddie, and proposed the idea.

“I told her and she was like ‘yea, I love that, let’s do it now, what font do you want?’ and I said ‘let’s make it nice and cursive and elegant.’”

While it makes for a good (and frequently used) conversation starter, the tattoo does hold a deeper meaning. Throughout the past year, Devin has been coping with the deaths of friends and family members, and the shocking quote is a reminder to live life to the fullest.

“‘Fuck life’ would be, to anyone else, like ‘fuck life, nothing matters, whatever’ which at the end of the day, true.

With this one it’s fuck life, do whatever you want to do. There’s no point in not doing whatever the fuck you want to do.“
